"I Will Not Leave You As Orphans..." John 14:18
This Christmas we celebrate the birth of the Savior. He would come to fulfill the meaning of His name: Jesus.
On the eve of His crucifixion, Christ assured His disciples that He would not leave them as orphans and that He would come back for them. But first He had to take a journey that the Exodus from Egypt pointed to.
The big Tsunami hit Indonesia on December 26, 2004. The raging sea opened its mouth and swallowed 350,000 people. In a few stunning moments, the watery graveyard left behind a staggering 150,000 orphans. At that time I was visiting my brother in the Bahamas and knew that I needed to get back to work.
The Beltsville NEWS Newspaper, MD, published an article where I promised the children of Indonesia not to leave them as orphans. Since then Restore a Child has kept its promise and now we care for 280 orphans in loving and stable homes in Indonesia. Funds for the May Hasso Home (photo below) for 42 orphan girls in Manado were donated by May's mother, Sumaia Hasso, a lifelong friend, before she lost her young daughter, a mother of three kids.
Amid the COVID chaos we celebrate this Christmas the birth of the Prince of Peace. "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace..." Luke 2:14
We want to wish ALL our faithful donors and supporters a Peaceful Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. Without YOU we could not have saved hundreds of orphans globally. Indonesia is one of 15 other countries we work in. YOU are the Hope for these little orphans and we are deeply grateful.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and partners around the world we thank you for your generosity. Our orphan and hungry children join us in wishing you a Merry Christmas, and to our generous Jewish donors, Happy Hanukkah.
