My daily prayer is...

Lord, what can I do today to help relieve the pain and misery of the orphaned children in the world?

Every day the painful facts continue...

Children around the world are abandoned because their parents lack the resources to feed and care for them. Add to this, countless children become orphans due to the death of their parents caused by disease, natural disasters, conflicts, and political instability. According to UNICEF, nearly 5,700 children around the world become orphans every day due to war, natural disasters, poverty, disease, stigma, and medical needs.

It is estimated that there are over 163 million orphans who represent more people than the combined populations of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and 47 other major U.S. cities. These statistics are not mere numbers—they represent real children, facing distress, struggle, and a future with little hope.

Tragically, 60% of orphaned girls are at risk of being trafficked into the sex trade. Between 10-15% of orphaned children will tragically take their own lives before reaching adulthood, and in Eastern Europe, 70% of orphaned boys are expected to end up involved in criminal activity.
